How do I convert HEX to RGB?
Split the hex code into three pairs and convert each pair from hexadecimal to decimal: #3B82F6 becomes rgb(59, 130, 246). The calculator does this automatically when you pick a color.
What is HSL and when should I use it?
HSL expresses color as Hue (0-360°), Saturation, and Lightness (0-100%). It is more intuitive for humans — to make a color darker you just lower lightness, which is hard to do in RGB.
Where are these formats used?
HEX is standard in web design (CSS, design tools), RGB in screens and code (rgb() in CSS), and HSL in CSS color functions and color pickers. All three describe the same color.
Why does my printed color look different?
